St George has been venerated as Gozo’s patron saint for centuries. Originally built on the site of a pagan temple, the church has been rebuilt several times, and the current structure dates back to 1678. The church overlooks one of Gozo’s most picturesque squares, surrounded by narrow streets, quaint alleyways, and traditional townhouses.

Above it, a bronze canopy recalls the baldachin of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, creating a striking contrast with the white marble.
