Ryanair Expands Malta Routes with Glasgow and Rzeszow

Ryanair is shaking things up once again, adding Glasgow, Scotland, and Rzeszow, Poland’s largest southeastern city, to its Malta summer schedule. The low-cost airline isn’t stopping there; it’s also ramping up flight frequencies on key existing routes such as Barcelona, Milan, Stockholm, and Zagreb, bringing its total Malta network to a whopping 68 routes.

But that’s not all; Malta’s Ryanair fleet is growing. A new Boeing 737 will take its place among the airline’s Malta-based planes, bringing the total to eight aircraft.

With over 4.9 million passengers flying Ryanair to and from Malta last year and a target set at 5 million for 2024, the airline now commands more than half of Malta’s air traffic.

And there’s more: new cabin crew jobs are set to open in March, with additional 50-60 roles created through an expansion of the airline’s Pieta offices and further investments in its air maintenance facility.

Ryanair’s investment in Malta has soared to €800 million, supporting over 4,200 local jobs. The airline is also adding 30 new pilot and cabin crew positions this year, reinforcing its commitment to growth in Malta.

“We want to keep Malta growing as the airline grows,” O’Leary said, doubling down on Ryanair’s long-term presence in the country.

Never one to shy away from controversy, O’Leary took aim at EU aviation taxes, slamming them as an unnecessary burden. He praised Hungary and Sweden for scrapping them and hinted that other countries should follow suit.

To mark the launch of its expanded summer schedule, Ryanair is offering 100,000 tickets at just €24.99; a steal for sun-seekers and budget travellers looking to jet off without breaking the bank.
