Discover the medieval history of the captivating Fort St Angelo in Birgu, once known as Castrum Maris (Castle by the Sea), through an immersive day of medieval re-enactments hosted by the Historical Re-enactment Group of Malta (HRGM).

From 10:00am to 3:00pm, visitors will have the rare opportunity to experience Fort St Angelo as it appeared in the 1400s—not just as a historical monument, but as a vibrant medieval stronghold. Re-enactors will bring the fort to life, portraying soldiers in period attire, complete with authentic weaponry. Attendees will gain insights into the fort’s strategic importance and learn about the weapons, supplies, and defensive mechanisms crucial to its role in Malta’s defense during the medieval era.

This engaging event promises to captivate history enthusiasts of all ages, offering a deeper understanding of Fort St Angelo’s significance in Malta’s past. Guests will witness re-enactors in action, interact with them in period costumes, and explore displays of weapons and equipment.

As part of an ongoing collaboration between the Compagnia Castelamare HRGM and Fort St Angelo’s management, the program will feature a fascinating PowerPoint presentation at 11:30am and again at 1:30pm. The presentation will delve into Medieval Malta’s economy, professions, subsistence methods, as well as its defense strategies, including the role of castles, garrisons, and the watch system.

Ticket prices for the event are the regular admission fees for Fort St Angelo: €10 for adults, €6 for students and seniors, and €4 for children. Heritage Malta members and senior and student passport holders enjoy free entry. Visitors can skip the line by booking tickets in advance at the Heritage Malta Store or at any participating museum or site.
