Local Photographer Secures Global Recognition with Four Gold Medals at the 2025 London Photography Awards
Maltese wildlife fine art photographer Johan Siggesson has emerged as a standout figure at the 2025 London Photography Awards, taking home an impressive four gold medals. His evocative images, The Dreamer and At the Foot of the Mountain, each earned gold in both the Wildlife and Fine Art categories, a rare and prestigious double honour that underscores Siggesson’s unique ability to blend raw documentary power with fine art sensibility.
This year’s London Photography Awards attracted entries from over 55 countries, celebrating a diverse array of global talent across genres including fine art, nature, people, architecture, editorial, and commercial photography. The competition honours both established professionals and emerging voices, showcasing creativity, vision, and technical excellence.
“The Dreamer” presents a male lion resting serenely, eyes half-closed, seemingly adrift in thought while the breeze gently tousles his mane, a moment of pure introspection captured in the wild.
“At the Foot of the Mountain” depicts a small family of African elephants walking through the savannah, exuding quiet grandeur and timeless dignity beneath the looming presence of distant peaks.
Both images were created in East Africa and are part of Siggesson’s acclaimed ICONS series, currently on exhibit at the SkyParks Business Centre, near Malta International Airport.
“To be recognised in both the Wildlife and Fine Art categories is a tremendous honour,” said Siggesson. “My goal is always to go beyond documentation. I want to create something that lasts. These animals deserve our admiration and protection, and I hope my work helps bring that message home.”
Each awarded photograph is available as a strictly limited edition fine art print, signed, certified, and never reissued.
