What’s On at Valletta Contemporary This Summer
This summer, Valletta Contemporary becomes a dynamic space for creative expression, personal exploration, and experimental collaboration. With a lineup that spans mindful clay work, international solo exhibitions, and radical group workshops, Valletta Contemporary continues to champion art that is both accessible and deeply resonant. Here’s what’s happening in the coming weeks:
Clay-making Workshop with Ally Vella
14 June | 3pm – 6pm
€65 donation (€55 for members)
VC Creative Hub
Registration Required | Only 3 Spots Left
Maltese ceramicist Ally Vella leads an intimate, hands-on clay-making session rooted in mindfulness and material intuition. Participants will begin with a grounding exercise before diving into a free-form clay experience, with no fixed rules or outcomes.
Each participant will craft a ceramic piece of their own design and choose from four glaze options, which Ally will apply after the session. Pieces will be ready for collection within four weeks. All materials are provided.
This workshop offers a space for quiet reflection, tactile connection, and uninhibited creation. Early registration is encouraged; only three spaces remain.
Exhibition: Cabinet of Curiosities by OTGO
16 May – 28 June 2025
Wednesday to Saturday | 2pm – 7pm
Curated by Thomas Eller
Currently on view at VC, Cabinet of Curiosities is a contemplative solo exhibition by Mongolian-born, Berlin-based artist Otgonbayar Ershuu, known as OtGO. A master of meditative artistic practice, OtGO’s work balances his deeply rooted Mongolian spiritual heritage with global cultural influences shaped by over two decades in Europe.
The exhibition presents a visual language that is intricate, dreamlike, and richly symbolic—inviting viewers into a world where tradition, memory, and imagination collide. Curated by Thomas Eller, Cabinet of Curiosities is open Wednesday through Saturday, with free entry.
Collision with Charlene Galea
12 July | 2pm – 7pm
Free Entry | Registration Launching Soon
Collision is a boundary-breaking, collaborative art workshop led by artist and facilitator Charlene Galea. This experimental initiative invites participants—regardless of their level of artistic experience—to bring their unfinished artworks and step into a shared process of reimagining them together.
Through performative storytelling, fictional backstories, props, and other unconventional methods, participants will collaboratively reinterpret each other’s work, pushing beyond the individualistic norms of contemporary art. Collision is about stepping into the unknown together, embracing creative chaos, and discovering unexpected forms of meaning.
Stay tuned…registration opens soon.
Whether you’re looking to slow down and centre yourself through clay, immerse yourself in contemplative visual art, or dive into collaborative experimentation, Valletta Contemporary is offering a season of events that put process at the heart of artistic practice.
