UK Tops Malta’s Travel Charts as Airport Sees Record 923,000+ Passengers in June
It was a record-setting June at Malta International Airport, which welcomed a remarkable 923,374 passengers last month, kicking off the summer season in full swing. According to the airport’s latest traffic update, travel to and from the islands is not just back, it’s booming.
The airport’s busiest day fell on Thursday, 26 June, when it handled 35,571 travellers across 218 flights, underlining the continued popularity of Malta as a destination at the height of the summer season.
What’s more, aircraft were flying fuller than ever. The seat load factor, a key measure of how full planes are, hit 86.8%, the highest monthly figure recorded so far in 2025. That means more people are choosing Malta, and airlines are keeping up with demand.
Leading the travel charge was the United Kingdom, which once again claimed the top spot as Malta’s largest source market, accounting for 22.4% of all passengers. Italy came in close behind with 20.2%, followed by Germany (7.4%), Poland (7.0%), and France (6.7%).
With long, golden days, crystal-clear seas, and a buzzing cultural calendar, it’s no surprise that Malta is pulling in the crowds. And if June is anything to go by, this summer is shaping up to be one of the busiest and brightest yet.
