Candlelight Concerts Return to Malta This January at The Phoenicia Hotel
Winter evenings in Malta get a softly glowing upgrade this January as the popular Candlelight concert series takes over the elegant setting of Phoenicia Hotel. Held on select January dates, these performances combine live music, hundreds of flickering candles, and a relaxed, intimate atmosphere that feels perfectly made for cooler winter nights.
Set inside the Phoenicia Hotel, the concerts feel special without being overly formal. They are easy to enjoy even if classical music is not usually your thing, with the focus very much on atmosphere and experience.
Saturday the 10th of January sets the tone with two very different experiences. At 7pm, audiences can enjoy Best of ABBA, a candlelit tribute to the Swedish pop icons ABBA, reimagined through elegant live arrangements. Later that evening, at 9pm, the energy switches up with Coldplay vs Imagine Dragons, a crowd-pleasing concert that brings modern anthems from Coldplay and Imagine Dragons in a warm, atmospheric setting.
The following Saturday, the 17th of January, leans towards more classical early on. At 7pm, Best of Vivaldi brings the timeless work of Antonio Vivaldi to life, perfect for those who enjoy rich melodies and a slower pace. At 9pm, Coldplay vs Imagine Dragons returns, offering a familiar favourite for those who missed it the first time around.
The month closes with a special Friday event on the 30th of January. At 7pm, audiences are treated to Best of Hans Zimmer, celebrating the cinematic soundscapes of Hans Zimmer. At 9pm, the evening ends on a high note with a Tribute to Queen, honouring the music of Queen in candlelit style.
