The Free Tallinja on demand service scheme extended
Your journeys with Tallinja on Demand will be completely free throughout the month of November, for Tallinja cardholders.
“We would like to give our customers the opportunity to try the Tallinja On Demand service, which is a convenient and efficient way of travel. We believe that our Tallinja On Demand service is an essential part of the evolution of public transport in Malta,” said Daniel Grech, the commercial director at Malta Public Transport.
The On Demand service provides a premium bus service with guaranteed pick-up and drop-off times at any of the bus stops in the operating zones, spanning from Pembroke all the way to Valletta. Trips can be booked as easy as ABC through the TD Plus tab on the Tallinja App and can also be reserved in advance for a future date.
The service travels directly to the requested bus stops, making fewer stops than the regular route buses. Not to mention that the modern buses are designed specifically for full accessibility, making it ideal for those using wheelchairs or pushchairs.
In terms of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, passengers are reminded that face masks are mandatory when on the buses, as well as when waiting on bus stops. Malta Public Transport is taking all the precautions to keep everyone as safe as possible. The buses are disinfected on a daily basis and high-touch areas are cleaned frequently throughout the day. Also, only half of the total seating capacity is being permitted on board, to allow for more distance between passengers.
Here are the details
The Tallinja On Demand service is available from Monday to Sunday, between 5am and 12am and currently operates to and from main bus stops in the northern harbor region, covering Pembroke, St Julians, Swieqi, San Gwann, Sliema, Msida, Pieta, Floriana and Valletta. In order to guarantee pick-up and drop-off times, the service is currently operating in a limited area, thus avoiding places that are normally quite heavily congested.
