Temperatures to exceed seasonal average: mixed weather hitting Malta this week
From temperatures reaching 20°C to Force 6 winds, Malta can expect a wide range of weather conditions this week!
A notable wave of warmth is predicted to hit the islands as we make our way through the week, providing a very welcome break from the winter chill that prevailed last week. Reportedly, the higher temperatures come as a result of pressures crossing over Italy; This week, Malta’s temperatures are predicted to increase to a maximum of 20°C.
Forecasts from several sources revealed a variety of meteorological conditions, from cloudy skies to brief periods of rain. Monday started the week off on a breezy note, although the trend for the week seems to be low-temperature mornings with potential for light rain, which transition into warm afternoons.
The island is predicted to have beautiful weather in the middle of the week, with temperatures that are unusually high for January. Thursday will be the sunniest day of the week, with highs in the range of 18°C to 20°C, which will be 4°C higher than the seasonal average. The sun will come with breezes that oscillate between gentle and moderate at most, with some directional changes as the week goes on.
The rain will be light and come in short spurts, if at all. However, the weekend will see the Spring-adjacent weather come to a halt. On Saturday, winds are set to escalate throughout the day, going up to 40km/h with the highest potential for rain throughout the week. Then, temperatures will dip slightly on Sunday, while the wind will somewhat ease up.
Seems the week will offer glimpses of Spring, while not letting us forget that it is indeed still Winter! So plan a cosy night in for Saturday, and enjoy an outdoor hangout on Thursday without the inevitable chill that forces the night to come to an end!
