‘Għajn Xtutna’, or ‘Eyes of our Shores’ in English, is being produced in collaboration with Cheryl Lofreda, the founder of Concept of Movement Dance Studio, or MVMT. Joining her in putting together the choreography are Charlotte Carpienter and Gabrielle Farinacci. This production comes from the minds of director-choreographer Diane Portelli, and Artistic Director Dorian Mallia. 

Before coming up with ‘Għajn Xtutna’, the two set out to create a Malta-themed dance. When trying to think of things that are quintessentially Maltese, they thought of the sun and the sea. That is how they landed on the idea of watchtowers, them being the figurative “eyes of our shores”.

Travel through time as moveo’s dancers honour Malta’s ancient watchtowers, which acted as watchful strongholds, providing manned nightly observation to ward off coastal threats.
