‘Do mice mourn the dead?’: A play about Your legacy, memory and what you leave behind

Do mice mourn the dead?: A new play performing in Valletta this May

The Busli Collective announces their second play, ‘Do mice mourn the dead?’, performing on May 17th, 18th and 19th at Sala San Duminku, Valletta

In their upcoming play, ‘Do mice mourn the dead?’, The Busli Collective invites audiences to ponder profound questions about life, loss and the power of memory.

Scheduled to run from the 17th to the 19th of May at Sala San Duminku, this production promises a thought-provoking journey into the depths of human emotion and resilience.

Left: Tiana Formosa as 'Mae' and right: Kristina Pace as 'Noah'

In the play, audiences are presented with the characters of Noah (Kristina Pace), a character constantly underestimated yet adept at turning adversity to her advantage, and Mae (Tiana Formosa), who epitomises loyalty and determination, embodying the notion of fighting for those she loves with unwavering strategy, drive and guts.

As viewers immerse themselves in the narrative, they’re invited to align with either Noah’s resilience in the face of challenges or Mae’s unwavering loyalty and determination.

Written and directed by emerging artist Michael Farrugia, ‘Do mice mourn the dead?’ is inspired by profound inquiries into the human experience. Drawing from questions such as “What helps people grieve?” and “Does the memory of our loved ones keep them alive?”, Farrugia’s script delves into the intricacies of familial bonds and the enduring impact of those we have lost. Visually and thematically inspired by the works of A24 films, this production marks Farrugia’s professional debut, following his notable student works including the award-winning ‘2.0 Watts in the Dark’ and ‘5T1NG’.
