Organised by Festivals Malta under the artistic direction of Kenneth Zammit Tabona, the festival showcases the versatility and timeless appeal of the Baroque period, proving its relevance even in the modern age.

Highlights of the Valletta Baroque Festival 2025

1. Lachrimae Lyrae – 10 January
   Experience a mesmerising performance by Sokratis Sinopoulos, blending ancient and contemporary sounds in the atmospheric setting of the National Museum of Archaeology. A perfect event for those who love unique musical experiences.
2. The Mad Lover – 10 January
   Violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and lutenist Thomas Dunford take the stage at Teatru Manoel to deliver a spellbinding performance of Baroque music infused with passion and precision.
3. Bachianas – 11 January
   The SIGNUM Saxophone Quartet offers a bold and innovative interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions, combining classical tradition with contemporary flair at Teatru Manoel.
4. My Voyage to Italy – 12 January
   Join acclaimed countertenor Samuel Mariño at Teatru Manoel as he takes audiences on a musical journey through Baroque Italy, accompanied by Concerto de’ Cavalieri.
5. Les Arts Florissants – 24 January
   Celebrate the 80th birthday of the legendary William Christie with a special performance by Les Arts Florissants at Teatru Manoel, honouring his contributions to Baroque music and its revival.
6. Missa Papae Marcelli – 25 January
   Closing the festival in grand style, KorMalta performs Palestrina’s timeless masterpiece, Missa Papae Marcelli, at the awe-inspiring St John’s Co-Cathedral, marking the 500th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
