Dario Genovese’s New EP ‘Burgundy’ Set for Release This May

If you’re into indie folk with heart, soul and a touch of vintage charm, Dario Genovese’s upcoming EP Burgundy should be on your radar. Set to launch on 23 May across all major streaming platforms, this new release marks a fresh and reflective chapter in the Maltese singer-songwriter’s evolving solo career.

Burgundy brings together four tracks woven with stories of companionship, growing up, and the weight of generational expectations. Written in just two weeks following a quiet pause in songwriting, the EP came together quickly but with intention. It’s stripped-back yet layered, each song capturing a feeling that’s hard to pin down but easy to connect with.

Dario’s music carries a familiar warmth. His sound brings together the honest storytelling of artists like Johnny Cash and George Harrison with the driving acoustic energy of The Lumineers and Mumford and Sons. There’s something timeless about it, yet it feels firmly grounded in the here and now.

After years of fronting a band and performing across the local circuit, Dario stepped into the solo spotlight in 2020. Since then, he’s made a name for himself not just as a singer and guitarist, but as a quiet force behind several thoughtful music events in Malta. His Library Tapes and Tea sessions created space for other musicians to collaborate and connect in a setting that was more about the music than the noise.

He also took to the stage solo at the iconic Manoel Theatre during Teatru Unplugged, proving his sound holds its own in even the most intimate and demanding of venues.

With Burgundy, he delivers an EP that feels close, like a journal set to music. Each track invites you to sit with it, reflect, and maybe even see a little of yourself in the stories he tells.
