If you thought this last week was hot in Malta, then we have some news for you: it’s about to get a whole lot hotter! Here’s what to expect and how best to keep cool while still soaking up the best of Malta.

Here’s what to expect and how best to keep cool while still soaking up the best of Malta.

Monday, 21 July
Monday sets the tone for the week ahead with blazing sunshine and highs of 35°C, feeling more like 40°C under the midday sun. Start your day early with a stroll around Valletta’s charming backstreets or explore the Upper Barrakka Gardens for sweeping harbour views before the heat peaks. After lunch, duck into the cool interiors of the National Museum of Archaeology or one of St John’s Co-Cathedral to let your skin and senses recover.

Tuesday, 22 July
Tuesday brings the absolute scorcher: highs of 40°C that truly feel every bit as fierce. Cool off by hopping on a morning boat trip to the Blue Lagoon in Comino, where the water stays refreshingly clear and inviting. By afternoon, it’s best to find shade, maybe sip a cold Cisk in a beachside lido, then catch an evening harbour cruise when the light turns golden and the temperature dips slightly.

Wednesday, 23 July
On Wednesday, the mercury hovers around 36°C, still feeling like a sultry 40°C. Make it a day of culture and calm by heading to Mdina. Its narrow, shaded alleys and honey-coloured stone walls keep things slightly cooler, and you can enjoy a slice of cake with panoramic views at Fontanella Tea Garden. Finish the day with dinner in Rabat, where the breeze tends to pick up.

Thursday, 24 July
Thursday keeps up the heat with highs of 38°C and skies clear as ever. Head north to Mellieħa Bay or Għajn Tuffieħa for a morning swim, then retreat under a parasol with a good book. Later, consider visiting Popeye Village, which stays open into the evening and offers brilliant photo spots without the midday glare.

Friday, 25 July
Friday stays toasty at 36°C but with a real feel of 41°C. Escape to Gozo on the ferry, visit the Ġgantija Temples, then cool down with a swim at Ramla Bay. End your week with fresh seafood in Marsalforn as the sun sets over the sea.

No matter the day, stay hydrated, keep sunscreen close and don’t shy away from a siesta. Malta might be scorching, but it’s still the perfect summer adventure.
