André Rieu Set to Dazzle Malta This August
If you’re lucky enough to be in Malta at the end of August, there’s one event you simply mustn’t miss. The world-renowned Dutch violinist and conductor, André Rieu, is bringing his magic to the Mediterranean with two concerts on the 29 and 30 of August, and let’s just say, the island is already buzzing!
Known for turning classical music into a full-blown spectacle, Rieu is as much a showman as he is a maestro. His concerts are grand, joyful affairs with sweeping waltzes, cinematic lighting, and plenty of charm. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just dipping your toes into the world of classical music, you’re in for an evening you won’t forget.
The concerts will be held at the Granaries in Floriana, just outside the historic capital city of Valletta, a stunning open-air venue steeped in history and atmosphere. Imagine golden Maltese stone bathed in the warm glow of sunset, a soft breeze rolling in from the sea, and the sound of The Blue Danube filling the night sky. Magical doesn’t even begin to cover it!
These concerts are part of Rieu’s global tour, and Malta is one of only a handful of stops. It’s a rare chance to see the maestro and his Johann Strauss Orchestra live on such a unique stage. Fans from across Europe are already snapping up tickets, so if you’re planning to be on the island, or even if you need an excuse to book that holiday, this is absolutely it!
But do act fast, there are only a few tickets left here at ShowsHappening, and they’re disappearing quicker than you can say Ode to Joy! It’s expected to be a total sell-out, and frankly, we’re not surprised.
Pair the concert with a day exploring Valletta’s winding streets, a dip in the Blue Lagoon, or a long lazy lunch in Mdina, and you’ve got yourself the perfect summer getaway. And if you’re travelling with family, even better, Rieu’s performances are wonderfully accessible, bringing together highbrow music with warmth, humour, and theatrical flair.
In short: if André Rieu in Malta isn’t on your summer calendar yet, it should be. See you there and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes. Have you experienced one of his concerts?
