Planning a Trip to Malta This October? Here’s the Weather Forecast
Valletta
October in Malta is a lovely time to visit. The summer crowds are gone, the air feels easier, and yet the island is still warm and welcoming. Days usually sit in the mid-20s Celsius, nights dip to around 18 or 19, and the sea is still warm enough for swimming. You’ll notice a little more cloud than in the summer months, and from time to time a shower or thunderstorm passes through, but it rarely lingers for long. The mornings are often clearer, with the chance of rain building in the afternoons, so it helps to keep a small umbrella in your bag. The evenings can feel breezy if you’re near the coast, so a light jacket or sweater is worth bringing along.
Looking at this week’s forecast from Saturday onwards, visitors can expect a mixed but mostly pleasant stretch of weather. Saturday should be partly cloudy with highs of about 24 °C and lows near 18 °C, with only a small chance of rain. Sunday may bring a few isolated showers, with highs around 26 °C, lows near 21 °C, and a moderate chance of rainfall. Monday continues with some possible showers, temperatures hovering at 25 °C by day and 19 to 20 °C at night. By Tuesday, the skies will clear a little, giving partly cloudy conditions, around 25 °C in the day and 18 °C at night, with much lower rain risk. Wednesday looks brighter still, mainly sunny, highs again around 25 °C, and just a slight breeze in the evening. By Thursday, the weather is expected to settle into a more typical October pattern, sunshine mixed with some scattered clouds, with most of the rain risk pushed away.
Sliema
If you’re visiting this week, it’s wise to plan your outdoor adventures for the mornings, keeping afternoons a little freer in case a shower drifts across. Beach days are still very much possible, as the sea remains inviting at over 23 °C, so pack your swimwear.
For evenings out in Valletta or Sliema, a light layer will keep you comfortable when the breeze picks up. Malta in October is about balance, enough warmth to remind you of summer, just enough change in the skies to keep it interesting, and the island itself a little calmer and easier to enjoy. With the right mix of sunscreen, sunglasses, and an umbrella tucked away, you’ll be ready for anything the Maltese weather brings this week.
