Maltese Driver Laura Frendo Confirmed for Ladies European Championship
Malta Racing Club has announced that Laura Frendo will represent Malta in this year’s edition of the Ladies European Championship organised by the European Trotting Amateur-Drivers Federation (FEGAT).
The championship will take place at Kincsem Park on Friday 8 May and Saturday 9 May, bringing together amateur female drivers from across Europe for a two-day competition featuring six championship races.
This will mark Malta’s third participation in the event, following encouraging performances by Cherise Farrugia in the 2023 and 2024 editions.
Frendo obtained her driving licence through the Malta Racing Club in 2023 and has quickly established herself among Malta’s leading female drivers. In just four years of official competitive racing, she has already participated in 110 races, recording seven victories and a further 30 top-four finishes.
A total of 13 nations will be represented in this year’s championship, namely Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Each driver will compete in four of the six races, with points awarded according to finishing positions.
Beyond the competitive element, the championship is also recognised for promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie among Europe’s top female amateur drivers. The event continues to serve as an important platform for highlighting and encouraging female participation in the sport.
The Malta Racing Club also thanked EquestriMalta for its continued financial support, noting that the collaboration between the two organisations continues to provide Maltese drivers with valuable international exposure while helping to develop local talent on the European stage.
The club extended its best wishes to Laura Frendo ahead of her participation in Budapest.
