Launching the festive season at the Valletta Waterfront

Launching the festive season at the Valletta Waterfront

The season for cheer is fast approaching and Valletta Waterfront is offering visitors a unique festive atmosphere this season. The iconic destination remains to be one of Malta’s most picturesque promenades, nestled away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and crowds, but also close enough to the capital. The area also has scenic Grand Harbour views, which are always a bonus.

The Waterfront underwent a facelift back in 2020, with a €2,000,000 investment, in the form of canopy structures, which respect the location’s rich history as a trading port, where the Knights of St John and European merchants used to unload their wares. The promenade has been decked up for the season, making it absolutely ideal for a casual stroll, coffee and cake, drinks or a leisurely meal.

Let’s talk Christmas!

We know what you’re here for. A 35-foot Christmas tree, Santa’s house complete with its own workshop and garden, a traditional Maltese crib and colourful handcrafted characters adorning the promenade such as the massive Nutcracker Solider, which is over 20 feet tall, casually standing guard over Valletta Waterfront and the Grand Harbour and the gingerbread man are just some of the magical attractions ion display.

The quaint atmosphere at the Waterfront will get visitors in a festive mood to celebrate this time of year, to the tune of all-time favourite songs and carols, as well as the spicy aroma and flavour of heart-warming mulled wine. Visitors to Valletta Waterfront can embrace a holiday-themed month of free activities, and take in the atmosphere as they indulge in delicious holiday treats and sweets, including mince pies, honey rings and more. The atmosphere will be enhanced by Santa Claus and Mrs Claus’ presence, with the occasional appearances from Jack Frost and elves on stilts, live music and roaming mascots for the younger ones.

Also, the entire promenade is a COVID-19 safe experience: visitors won’t run into large crowds, measures are observed by all the establishments, and will be, for the most part, outdoors, with attractive spacious indoor venues for the rainy days.
