Events Happening in Malta during Santa Maria Week

The long awaited public holiday is upon us, and of course, locals are planning their jam-packed week of activities and events.  The Feast of the Assumption (Santa Marija) falls on Tuesday 15 August and is celebrated in seven towns and villages across Malta and Gozo; Għaxaq, Gudja, Attard, Mosta, Mqabba, Qrendi, and Victoria, Gozo. Choose to experience the traditional local feasts  in one of these localities or make the most out of shutdown week (if you’re lucky enough to have one) by unwinding at one of the many events happening that week!

Make your way to Valletta from 17 to 20 August to experience  the ultimate beer celebration. If you’re looking to sample different beers, this is definitely the place to be, with over 300 different beers on display.

What to expect: Local and international breweries, interactive games, competitions, and workshops as well as all the entertainment you can get with including local bands and arcade areas such as fun fair rides, animation and virtual reality rides.

There’s even something in store for the sports enthusiasts with kickboxing, K1, MMA and boxing tournaments.

One of Malta’s largest music festivals and a true summer highlight, taking place from the 11 to 18 August. The main event will be held on 15 August at Ta’ Qali National Park, featuring a stellar line-up inlcuding Black Eyed Peas, D-Block Europe, Farruko, Zara Larsson, and Charlie Hedges.

Glitch Festival 2023 will provide four days of full on electronic music from 13 to 16 August, welcoming over 65 artists to perform across seven different stages.  This is the right opportunity to dance and lose yourself in party spaces such as rooftop pool parties, cave raves and even pool parties. The festival opens with a party under the Valletta bastions on Sunday 13 August, and the main festival will continue at Gianpula Village, featuring a carefully curated line-up like no other.
