Malta International Airshow Returns This Weekend

Every September, hoards of people turn out for the Malta International Airshow. It was 30 years ago that the Malta Aviation Society managed to get approval to hold the very first aerial exhibition, which took place over the Marsamxetto Harbour. The airshow has since grown in popularity and is now considered to be the island’s largest outdoor event, as well as the most photographed event, appearing in various local and foreign magazines alike.
This weekend, the Malta Aviation Society will be returning with the annual airshow after a two-year pause with ten countries taking part. A static display showcasing some of the world’s most outstanding aircrafts will be open from 8am to 12:30pm at Safi Aviation Park on both days. Attendees are instructed to gather at SR Technics Gate next to Montekristo Estate where a shuttle service will transport everyone to Safi Aviation Park.
Then, head to the St Paul’s Bay coastline at 2pm to watch a fantastic lineup of aircrafts perform impressive aerial displays and manoeuvres, with some of the most prominent participants including Solo Turk’s F-16, the Red Arrows and the Flying Bulls. What’s more, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) will be partaking in both the static and flying displays with each type of aircraft in their flying inventory. The full list of participants is available on the Malta International Airshow official site.
The team behind this unmissable event is made up of about 200 volunteers both on and off the ground. For those looking for a unique way to spend their weekend, the airshow is always a hit with kids and adults alike. Tickets can be purchased online.
See you there!
