Lyndsay’s dedication to her art hasn’t gone unnoticed, as she has received nominations for prestigious awards like Best Solo/Female Artist and Best Song at the Bay Music Awards and the Malta Music Awards, adding to her impressive portfolio.
In recent years, Lyndsay’s musical career has flourished, marked by memorable performances at local and national festivals, including “The Malta Eurovision Song Contest,” “Britain’s Got Talent,” “X Factor Malta,” “Muzika Muzika,” “The Hartbex Carpathia Festival,” and “The Fan Vision Song Contest.” She’s also made a mark in the industry with chart-topping singles and her debut album “Dopamine,” which garnered significant attention upon its recent release. We caught up with the songstress to find out more.
Hi Lyndsay! If you could perform a duet with any fictional character from a book, movie, or TV show, who would it be and why?
I would say a character from Disney, as I’m a big fan of the soundtracks!
How would you describe your musical style?
I’m quite versatile as an artist and like to experiment with different genres, but I describe my musical style mainly as a commercial sound. This genre allows me to express my feelings and emotions to the audience more directly. It’s all about connecting with the fans through high-energy releases, uplifting melodies and relatable experiences whilst delivering a unique pop music approach.
Can you share a memorable “on-stage mishap” moment or a funny behind-the-scenes story from your career?
One time, I was performing at a local venue when I accidentally tripped over some cables and found myself flat on the floor facing an audience, laughing their hearts out! I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t even get back on my feet to continue singing, and my super-high heels didn’t help either. Luckily, someone from backstage gave me a helping hand, and I managed to continue my performance. I guess these things happen when you least expect them, but you know what they say…the show must go on!
Many artists have pre-show rituals or lucky charms. What’s your go-to ritual or item that you believe brings you good luck before a performance?
I usually like to have some alone time and do some vocal warm-ups before hitting the stage, especially when the butterflies start to kick in! This pre-show ritual helps me relax and makes me feel prepared to perform well.Â
What’s your proudest accomplishment to date?
Thankfully, I have had many accomplishments in my music career. Still, I think that the biggest one was when I made it to the Commercial Pop Club Chart with the dance song “Sick Day” amongst international artists such as Ed Sheeran, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Sigala, Jess Glynne, Meghan Trainor and many more. A dream come true.
If you could create a dream music festival lineup with any artists, living or deceased, who would be your top three headliners, and why?
Now, this would be the opportunity of a lifetime! I would like to have Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson as the top three headliners for the festival. They’re legends in music, and it would be great to have them back for one night.
Music often brings people together. Can you recall a heartwarming fan interaction or a moment when your music profoundly impacted someone’s life?
Looking back on my career, I believe that my most significant hit was “Daphne”, as it was nominated for Best Song and hit the number one spot on the radio charts, but apart from this, it has touched so many people on a personal level. The story behind the song is about the betrayal of a friend, and I followed my instinct to share this with everyone. I had one person in particular telling me how much she can relate to this song, and it helped her get through the struggle, knowing that she’s not alone. This is the best part of creating music; nothing makes me happier!Â
