Explore the dark past of an Mdina Palazzo

On February 9, embark on a journey through a certain mysterious Mdina palazzo’s past.

Organised by Dark Tours Malta, this unique tour will uncover strange tales from the intriguing past of an exquisite palazzo in Mdina and provide exceptional access to it. Before entering the palazzo, the tour will begin on the streets of Mdina, where the legend of the French soldier who is said to have been thrown from the palazzo balcony by a mob of Maltese rebels will be told.

In the palazzo’s private chapel, visitors will be able to touch a portion of the True Cross—which, according to the Pope, is the actual cross upon which Jesus Christ was crucified. They will also get to discover why the palazzo had to be shrunk in size by a dreadful gambler who happened to be a nun’s son, as well as how slaves were housed near the housemistress.

The tour will conclude at the roof of the palazzo, offering a breathtaking view of Mdina. Then, drinks will be served in the drawing room, which is reputed to be the biggest in Mdina. This event is a part of Dark Malta Tours’ brand-new Behind Closed Doors series, which takes those with the guts to know more off the streets and inside intriguing locations to learn about their sinister pasts.

The tour will begin at 7 pm and conclude at 8.30 pm. Places are very limited to make the experience as intimate and insightful as possible. The designated meeting point is the Joseph Howard statue, to the left of Mdina Gate. Tickets are priced at €30, including refreshments, and can be purchased here
