Vernal Festival to Bring Local and International Talent Together This March

The Vernal Festival, organised by Versatile, is set to take place between 15-24 March in Malta, featuring a diverse lineup of international and local talent.

From various stages around Malta and Gozo, this festival will bring together local and international talent, where music, performance, and artistic talents converge. Enjoy the diversity of events, from the soul-stirring rhythms of Gigi D’Alessio to the timeless drama of West Side Story.

Here’s a rundown of the events included in the festival:

Mosaic Ensemble Concert:

  • Date: Saturday, 16 March
  • Venue: Valletta Campus Theatre
    The Mosaic Ensemble, comprised of musicians from Bulgaria, France, Portugal, and Tunisia, will present compositions blending jazz and Mediterranean music.

D’Alma Trio Performance:

  • Date: Tuesday, 19 March
  • Venue: Casino Maltese, Valletta
    The D’Alma Trio, featuring world-class musicians playing flute, harp, and viola, will enchant the audience with French repertoire.

Genios Flamenco and Classical Fusion:

  • Dates: Wednesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 21
  • Venue: Grand Ballroom of the Phoenicia Hotel, Floriana
    Genios showcases an innovative fusion of classical music and flamenco, featuring Curro de Candela’s dance and Jesús Reina’s virtuosic violin.

West Side Story Rendition:

  • Date: Starting from 15 March 
  • Venue: Teatru Astra
     Collaboration with Teatru Astra for performances of Bernstein’s timeless classic, West Side Story.

Gigi D’Alessio Concert:

  • Date: Saturday, 23 March 
  • Venue: Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali
    Italian artist Gigi D’Alessio performs with the Versatile Orchestra, led by Paul Borg, promising a spectacular concert.

Additionally, the festival includes a special collaboration with The Malta Trust Foundation, offering Alessia the opportunity to perform alongside Gigi D’Alessio. This collaboration aims to empower children and young people through music and the arts.

The festival has garnered support from various entities, including President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA).
