God of Carnage Coming to Manoel Theatre This June

Chris Dingli and Chiara Hyzler

Originally written in French by Yasmina Reza and translated into English by Christopher Hampton, the acclaimed play ‘God of Carnage’ is set to be staged at the Manoel Theatre between 6-9 June 2024.

Directed by Andrè Agius, this English-language production features a talented cast of local actors: Chris Dingli, Charlotte Grech, Chiara Hyzler, and Pierre Stafrace.

‘God of Carnage’ is a dark comedy celebrated as one of the most significant plays of the past two decades. It premiered in Zurich in 2006 before moving to Paris, where it won the prestigious Molière Award for Best Play. The play made its West End debut in 2008 with a star-studded cast including Ralph Fiennes, Tamsin Greig, Ken Stott, and Janet McTeer. Its 2009 Broadway debut featured Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini, and Marcia Gay Harden, further solidifying its global acclaim.

The narrative delves into the chaos that erupts when two sets of parents meet to discuss a playground altercation between their 11-year-old sons. As tensions escalate and civility disintegrates, the Olivier and Tony award-winning play offers a biting and hilarious critique of modern social dynamics and human behaviour.

Don’t miss this gripping exploration of the thin veneer of civilisation and the raw nature of parental conflict.

Tickets are available at here or the Manoel Theatre box office in Valletta.
