Celebrate Maltese Tradition at Siġġiewi’s Festa Għeneb (Grape Festival) This Saturday

This Saturday 14 September 2024, Siġġiewi will host the much-anticipated Festa Għeneb, a vibrant celebration of local grapes, Maltese traditions, delicious food, wine, and live entertainment, all in support of Dar tal-Providenza.

Siġġiewi, Malta’s largest grape-growing village with over 500,000 square meters of lush vineyards, is once again set to host the highly anticipated Festa Għeneb.

This exciting event celebrates the village’s rich tradition of grape cultivation and the delicious products that come from it. For years, Siġġiewi’s fertile soil and hardworking locals have shaped a strong legacy of vineyards, grapes, and wine.

Visitors will be treated to tastings of locally grown grapes and a variety of delicious food and drink made from the fruit.

This year, Siġġiewi is also paying special tribute to the Girgentina, a grape native to the area, by debuting a brand-new drink: the Girgentina Spritz, crafted especially for Festa Għeneb.

Back by popular demand, the home-made wine competition will once again be a highlight, attracting talented producers from Siġġiewi and beyond.

Expect a lively evening full of Maltese traditions, featuring authentic local food, Maltese wine, an exhibition showcasing over 15 varieties of locally grown grapes, displays of agricultural tools, a fun kids’ zone, and live music and dance performances.

The celebration kicks off on Saturday, 14 September 2024 from 6pm onwards at Pjazza San Nikola, Siġġiewi.

Organised by the Siġġiewi Local Council with the support of the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government and the Western Region, all proceeds from the event will go to Dar tal-Providenza.
