The Malta Book Festival Back This November
The Malta Book Festival returns for its 45th edition from 6-10 November, 2024, at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre, bringing the world of books to life under this year’s theme, #BindingWorlds.
This festival celebrates the unique journey of storytelling, from ideas to printed pages, uniting readers, writers, and creators from all backgrounds.
This year’s festival lineup is packed with activities for all ages. Highlights include family-friendly performances, engaging student workshops, insightful book launches, and lively panel discussions, all centered around the art and craft of writing. Visitors will also have opportunities to meet with authors, illustrators, and publishers, offering a deeper connection to the literary world.
Special events include a unique cross-cultural poetry exchange on 8 November, where Emirati poet Ali AlShaali and Maltese-Moroccan poet Murad Shubert will share their works at the Doreen Micallef Poetry Contest Award Ceremony.
The From Illustration to Book exhibit also returns, showcasing the essential role of illustration in storytelling. The exhibit, divided into five sections, will spotlight renowned Maltese illustrators, feature international talents, and provide an inside look at the creative process, from concept to final artwork.
New for 2024, the festival embraces sustainability with the theme Tomorrow Starts with a Vision. The event aims for a reduced environmental impact with plastic-free zones, zero-waste collaborations, and greenery-filled spaces. Attendees can explore activities centred around eco-conscious practices and view an art exhibit envisioning a sustainable future for Malta.
Free and open to all, the Malta Book Festival promises a meaningful experience for book lovers, celebrating the powerful role of literature in connecting and inspiring us all.
