Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem: A Living Nativity

Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem, an event that has drawn thousands of visitors over the years, is a must-visit for anyone exploring Gozo during the Christmas season. This nativity village, located near Għajnsielem’s main square and just a 5-minute walk from Mgarr harbour, offers a truly unique experience. Built on 20,000 square metres of fields at Ta’ Passi, the life-size crib comes alive each December, with around 150 actors transporting visitors back to Judea 2,000 years ago.

The Annual Christmas Parade

The annual Christmas parade in Republic Street, Victoria, is a vibrant celebration of the island’s festive spirit and creativity. This year’s parade will feature a lively marching band, beautifully decorated floats, and will be accompanied by Santa Claus and his elves. The procession will make its way up Republic Street, captivating locals and tourists alike, and will conclude at Independence Square, where D Capitals Band will perform a concert to end the festivities on a high note.

Christmas Markets

Gozo’s charming villages come alive during the festive season with a variety of Christmas markets. These markets offer a unique opportunity to discover local crafts, delicacies, and souvenirs. Visitors can browse through stalls selling handmade ornaments, traditional Gozitan sweets, artisanal products, and festive decorations. New Year's Eve

The Gozo National New Year’s Eve Celebrations will once again be hosted in Victoria. The celebrations will happen mainly in Independence Square which will be hosting the main stage and will see the very best of Malta’s top local artists. The event will be headlined by one of Malta’s favourite bands, THE TRAVELLERS who will entertain the crowd with their lively performance. The night will also feature Gozitan artist Jolene Samhan who will kickstart the night

As the night peaks there will be a special performance by international guest artist SONIQUE live on stage.  SONIQUE is a multifaceted British artist who has made her mark as a singer, musician, and DJ. In 2001, she received the Best British Female award at the Brit Awards. The same year, her single “It Feels So Good,” from her number-one album “Hear My Cry,” won International Hit of the Year at the 46th Ivor Novello Awards. The album also featured other popular tracks such as “I Put A Spell on You” and “Sky”. This event is free of charge.
