Legendary Italian Singer Zucchero to Return to Malta this July
Ciao Malta! The Għaxaq Music Festival 2025 is gearing up for an incredible edition, with none other than Italian blues-rock legend Zucchero headlining the opening night.
The revered singer will return to the Maltese Islands as part of the festival, delivering a world-class show on July 17 at the Għaxaq Grounds. As part of his Overdose D’Amore World Tour, he will ignite the stage with an incredible mix of blues, rock, gospel, and soul, drawing in fans with his raw energy and commanding presence.
Zucchero, born Adelmo Fornaciari, is one of Italy’s most successful musical exports. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has sold in excess of 60 million records and collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Sheryl Crow, Ray Charles, Sharon Corr, Bono, Luciano Pavarotti, and Sting. His distinctive sound has also won him international acclaim, earning him a Grammy nomination and multiple World Music Awards.
Fans can expect a setlist packed with some of his most iconic hits, including Senza Una Donna, Baila (Sexy Thing), Diavolo In Me, and Diamante, all songs that have cemented his status as a true maestro of blues-infused rock. His influence stretches far beyond his home country with tours taking him across the world and to the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London on multiple occasions
The Għaxaq Music Festival, now in its 26th year, has a reputation for attracting major international acts. Last year’s edition saw performances from Julian Marley and Ronan Keating, and this year’s lineup promises to be just as impressive. Organised by St Mary’s Band Club Għaxaq and held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture and the Malta Tourism Authority, the festival has grown into a staple of Malta’s cultural calendar.
Tickets for Zucchero’s performance go on sale on 14 February 2025, with a special Valentine’s discount available until 16 February.
