Cross-Country Skier Jenny Axisa Eriksen Wins Quota Place for Malta at Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games
The Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026.
Malta’s 19-year-old Jenny Axisa Eriksen becomes the nation’s first-ever cross-country skier to win a Quota place for Malta at these Games. Jenny secured this Quota for the 2026 Winter Olympics following her performance at the World Cross Country Skiing Championships, marking a significant milestone for both her career and Malta’s growing presence in winter sports.
Born and raised in Norway to a Maltese mother and Norwegian father, Jenny has embraced her Maltese heritage from birth. She has been skiing since the age of two and has trained rigorously to compete at the highest level. Representing Malta on the global stage is a source of immense pride for her, and securing a Quota place at the 2026 Winter Olympics is the result of years of dedication and unwavering focus on her goal.
“Competing to obtain a Quota Place for the Winter Olympics has always been my goal, and I am incredibly proud to represent Malta in a sport that has been my passion since childhood. I hope my journey inspires young athletes to pursue their dreams, no matter the challenges.” said Axisa Eriksen.
This would be Malta’s fourth appearance at the Winter Olympic Games, with the country making its debut in Sochi 2014, when alpine skier Élise Pellegrin became the first athlete to represent Malta at a Winter Olympic Games.
