Lights, Camera, Malta, Enola Holmes 3 Begins Filming on the Maltese Islands
Malta is set to take the spotlight as the picturesque Mediterranean backdrop for Enola Holmes 3, with filming officially underway. The ever-charming Millie Bobby Brown and the dashing Henry Cavill have touched down on the island, joined by a host of familiar faces, as Netflix’s beloved mystery series enters an exciting new chapter.
Following two thrilling adventures set in the smog and splendour of Victorian England, the third instalment of Enola Holmes catapults the teenage sleuth into the sun-drenched landscapes of Malta. Expect intrigue, peril, and perhaps even a flutter of romance as Enola faces her most challenging case yet.
Netflix teases that this new tale sees Enola “flung into a nest of vipers” while she manages her increasingly complex bond with young Tewkesbury (played by fan favourite Louis Partridge). The storyline, tightly guarded for now, promises a rich blend of suspense and emotional depth, with Malta not merely serving as a backdrop but as a central character in its own right.
Returning to the screen are Helena Bonham Carter as the indomitable Eudoria Holmes, Himesh Patel, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster, alongside Cavill reprising his role as the legendary Sherlock Holmes. The film is directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Philip Barantini, known for his gritty and emotional storytelling in Adolescence. The script is in the capable hands of Jack Thorne, the BAFTA-winning writer who has penned the previous two Enola Holmes films.
Produced by Legendary Entertainment and Millie Bobby Brown’s own PCMA Productions, this latest instalment is shaping up to be a must-watch. Jake Bongiovi, Isobel Richards, and Michael Dreyer serve as executive producers, ensuring the project is in fine form.
Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, excitement is already brewing on the island. Tourists and locals alike might unexpectedly stroll past a film set or even catch a glimpse of the stars in action.
So, if you’re planning a holiday to Malta, keep your eyes peeled. From Valletta’s historic streets to the Blue Grotto’s shimmering waters, the game is well and truly afoot, right here in the heart of the Mediterranean.
