Is Summer Over? Malta's Weather to Take a Turn This Week
We have certainly had a long, hot summer this year, but is that all about to change this week? According to the Malta Airport weather forecast, things are scheduled to dip toward the end of the week as the islands welcome isolated showers, winds, and much cooler temperatures. While this may be great news for farmers, tourists may have to consider exploring Malta’s indoor attractions to avoid the heavy downpours.Â
If you’re visiting Malta this week, here’s what you can expect day by day:
Tuesday is perfect for sightseeing or a beach day, with warm sunshine and highs around 27°C. Ideal for outdoor adventures like visiting Valletta or the Blue Lagoon.
On Wednesday, temperatures remain pleasant at 26°C but will be partly cloudy. Still good for outdoor plans, but expect some cloud cover.
Thursday will see more cloud cover, with highs of 26°C. It’s a great day to avoid the sun and explore cultural sites like museums or Mdina’s old streets.

As we move into Friday, the weather changes, with gusty winds and isolated showers (25°C). If you’re near the coast or taking a ferry, the wind may affect your plans, so consider indoor activities like visiting the Malta National Aquarium. If you plan to take a dip in the sea, be sure to check the currents and any red flag warnings.
Saturday will be similar to Friday; it will be windy with more scattered showers and 25°C. This is an excellent day to explore indoor attractions, enjoy the very best of Maltese cuisine in cosy restaurants, or visit historical sites like the Hypogeum.
On Sunday, the cooler weather continues with highs of 24°C and isolated showers. Layer up and enjoy a mix of indoor and outdoor experiences, perhaps a visit to Gozo or a quiet afternoon exploring traditional villages.
Finally, Monday brings more clouds and cooler temperatures at 24°C. It’s a comfortable day to stroll leisurely around cities like Valletta or the Three Cities, taking in Malta’s cultural and architectural beauty.
Malta’s nights this week will be quite mild, with temperatures ranging from 19°C to 21°C. Early in the week, expect clear skies and calm nights, ideal for evening walks along the promenades or dining outdoors. As the weekend approaches, nights will become windier, especially on Friday and Saturday, with a higher chance of showers.
Remember to pack a light jacket and umbrella for the weekend, and be ready to adapt your plans for some wind and rain, as this week in Malta offers a truly mixed bag of weather!
