Austrian TV Production Shines Spotlight on Gozo
Maltese cuisine will take centre stage on ORF2 from 6 to 10 October 2025, with the Gozo episode set to air on the final day, 10 October, offering Austrian audiences a taste of the island’s culinary and cultural treasures.
The much-loved Austrian cooking series Silvia kocht has once again returned to the Maltese Islands — this time focusing its cameras on the authentic charm and breathtaking scenery of Gozo.
Filming for the special Gozo feature took place between 22 and 25 March, starting with a picturesque ferry crossing from Malta to Gozo that perfectly captured the excitement of first-time visitors arriving on the island.
Throughout the shoot, the crew explored some of Gozo’s most iconic locations, including the peaceful Villa Rundle gardens, the winding streets of Victoria, and the historic Citadel with its impressive cathedral.
One of the highlights was a scenic picnic at Dwejra, overlooking the famous Fungus Rock. Here a beautifully prepared spread was laid out, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients, set against the backdrop of Gozo’s rugged coastline.
Another standout moment saw Executive Chef Havi showcase traditional Gozitan flavours at the renowned Country Terrace restaurant. With stunning views over Mġarr Harbour, Chef Havi prepared classic dishes such as fish soup and stuffed artichokes with octopus, offering Austrian audiences a true taste of the island.
Adding a dose of adventure, host Silvia Schneider joined Gozo Adventures for a climbing experience, highlighting Gozo not only as a foodie’s paradise but also as a destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Now in its fifth season, Silvia kocht is one of Austria’s most popular daytime shows on national broadcaster ORF2. The programme regularly takes viewers beyond Austria’s borders, offering culinary and cultural journeys from around the world, with host Silvia Schneider cooking alongside top chefs both at home and abroad.
