British Singer Songwriter James Morrison Makes His Long Awaited Malta Debut
If you have been toying with the idea of a spring escape, Malta has just given you another excuse to press the button. James Morrison, one of Britain’s most recognisable soul voices, is performing on the island for the first time next May as part of Fusion Festival at MFCC in Ta’ Qali. It is a one-night only date on Friday 1 May 2026, set right in the middle of that warm, early summer stretch when Malta feels perfectly made for a long weekend away.
Tickets are already on sale, with an early bird offer knocking ten euros off for a limited time, which makes planning ahead feel that bit easier for both locals and travellers.
Morrison’s return to the stage arrives after a period of stepping back, reassessing and finding his footing again. His latest album, Fight Another Day, reflects that shift with a kind of emotional transparency that does not lean on grand statements. Instead, it sits in the everyday effort of carrying on, shaped by the losses and upheavals that have marked recent years of his life.
The Malta show is expected to thread the new material with the songs many people grew up hearing on the radio or humming along in the car. You Give Me Something still has that warm, gravelly pull that made it an instant breakthrough, while Wonderful World and I Won’t Let You Go continue to land with the same sincerity they always have. And then there is Broken Strings, his hit duet with Nelly Furtado, which remains one of his most popular tracks, capable of shifting the atmosphere of a venue within seconds.
Malta in early May is an easy sell. Days are long, the heat is comfortable rather than punishing, and the evenings bring stunning sunsets. Visitors can fold the gig into a few days of exploring Valletta, coastal walks, quiet coves and late dinners, while locals get a strong international act without the usual flight attached. MFCC’s festival set-up tends to draw a friendly crowd and gives the night a sense of scale without losing warmth.
The event is produced by BLS Entertainment, known for bringing reliable, well-curated line-ups to Fusion Festival and Vernal Festival.
Tickets are on sale now through showshappening.com, with the early bird reduction available for a short time.
