Golden Buzzer contestant Emma releases first original song

Many of us remember the awe-inspiring 14-year-old singer/songwriter, Emma Cutajar from Malta’s Got Talent last year. Many of us bawled at our TV screens as she beautifully sang her heart-wrenching lyrics.

The talented Emma wowed the judges, as well as the audience, with her original song titled I Miss You, which has now been released on Spotify and other streaming and online platforms. What’s more, I Miss You is accompanied by a music video, which you can see on YouTube. Emma said that the song is very close to heart, as it revolves around her sister, who she never got a chance to meet as she passed away before Emma was born.

“I have a lot of questions about how my life would have been if she was still here with me, and this song is all about that. Writing music helps me cope and express myself in a way I can’t do with words,” she said.

During her Malta’s Got Talent audition, Emma performed the song for the very first time, and it earned her a Golden Buzzer, from judge Maxine Aquilina. The audition had hundreds and thousands of viewers on TV, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok combined. It was also chosen as one of the ‘Top 10 Most Emotional Auditions in 2020’ worldwide, by two separate YouTube channels, both with millions of subscribers.

The song was changed slightly, recorded and produced at Railway Studios, with Peter Borg. It was recorded with live instruments; Emma Cutajar herself on the piano, Peter Borg on guitars, Ivan Borg on bass, cello by Florence Aquilina and live drums by Raphael Tonna. It was then mixed by Peter Borg and masterd by Matt Hyde.

The stunning accompanying music video was produced by Steven Levi Vella.
