Glen Vella wins first edition of relaunched festival Mużika Mużika With ‘Ħarsa Biss’

Around 90,000 viewers tuned in to TVM to the see over 20 artists perform a number of original Maltese tracks

Last weekend, ‘Mużika Mużika – Festival Kanzunetta Maltija, provided a celebration of Maltese music, uniting Maltese people and honouring our native language. The festival served as a unique platform for Maltese and Gozitan composers, authors, singers, groups and musicians.

The three-day festival featured a competition with various songs written in the Maltese language, with lyrics and compositions from local artists. 20 songs competed in the semi-final.

Glen Vella, winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, walked away with the Muzika Muzika trophy, as he dedicated his winning pop ballad ‘Harsa Biss’ to the first time he made eye contact his husband Sandro.

The winner of the competition was decided by a combination of televotes (25%) and a jury vote (75%) in a nerve-wracking finish. Christian Arding won the jury vote and ended up in second place after the votes were all announced.
