Top Maltese choreographer featured in International concept video

Do you remember the fire that The MVMT brought to the stage on the last edition of Malta’s Got Talent? It was hard to forget, right?

Well, dancer, choreographer and The MVMT director Cheryl Lofreda has taken part in a huge concept video, for the song Madonna, by Apache 207 and Bausa. Despite this being an achievement in itself, the excitement levels rose even more so when we found out that the video was created, directed and choreographed by Mecnun Giasar, alongside film director Henry Scholfield. Artistic credits include the likes of Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Stormzy, amongst others.

The co-choreographer of the project, Natalie Gilmore’s artistic credits include none other than Ariana Grande, Jason Derulo, Selena Gomez and Justin Timberlake, just to name a few.

Cheryl Lofreda joined a talented line-up of dancers for the inspirational and energetic dance video, which revolves around the re-defining of what the ideal definition of beauty really is. The song has hit number 1 on Spotify music charts, and refers to a woman who ‘dances like Madonna.’ Mecnun’s idea behind the video was to bring powerful, talented women together, to produce a powerful movement-oriented film.

“Honestly, this was really unexpected,” said Cheryl. “30 beautiful women from all over the world united in one studio, to form part of this perspective-changing project. Every morning, we were getting tested before starting our rehearsals so that we could practice in a safe environment,” she added. “I believe that with our Art forms, we can always make a difference… believe more, have patience and work hard and you’ll see that things will start to change for you.”

Cheryl is definitely one to watch!
