Launching the first edition of Malta Film Awards
We could not be more thrilled to release this exciting little nugget! The Malta Film Commission has launched the Malta Film Awards, to shine a well-deserved light on local cast and crew across the local film and television industry.
The awards are set to be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in February 2022, while submissions can be sent as from last Wednesday 29 September all the way up until Friday 9 October.
Malta’s cinematic history spans both servicing as well as local production and therefore, the Malta Film Awards strive to shine a spotlight on those individuals and projects that have raised the bar for Malta’s audio-visual sector, reaching levels of excellency.
Operating under the tagline ‘Celebrating our story’, film commissioner Johann Grech said that the awards show will seek to celebrate the resilience of the local film industry. “It was our people’s ambition and our crew’s ability that kept out film industry working, from one generation to the next,” he said.
The Malta Film Commission will be partnering up with the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) to coordinate the event and a panel of selected local and international professionals will be the jury for the awards in 2022.
The chosen tagline pays tribute to all those who have dreamt of making a production, as well as those who dream to be a part of Malta’s film and TV industry.
