Short film Monumental selected for US film festival

Short film Monumental, directed by talented and Malta-based Aleksa Ristovic, has been selected for the AZDroneFest Film Festival &Expo 2021, which will be taking place tomorrow!

Monumental is already a semi-finalist at the Eurasian Film Festival, won an award at the Berlin Flash Festival and been part of a whopping 16 official selections for festivals across the world. 160 applications are still being processed, including for local festivals.

The latest exciting selection is at the Drone Fest in the United States, which is held at the Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. The film was officially selected and nominated in the Best New Pilot category.

The short film is centred on a spiritual journey to leave a mark on the world and the message is conveyed by means of cinematography captured exclusively by means of drone footage.

Monumental was written, directed and filmed entirely by Aleksa Ristovic, with the help of Giovann Attard, the drama director of the story, who suggested that the story be transformed into a poem. Aleksa’s wife Tania Ristovic was executive producer, British actress Victoria Harrild was brought on as narrator of the film, Anton Yakshibaev for music composition, Jeiner Racedo as sound engineer and Valery Ivanov on the violin.

The majority of the work for the film was done online, as most of the team do not live in Malta, except for the director himself, Giovann Attard and Tania Ristovic.
