The Travellers release song for road safety

Well-known and highly-acclaimed band The Travellers have joined forces with Transport Malta, as well as the Road Safety Council, for their annual road safety campaign, to urge drivers not to get behind the wheel, if they’ve been drinking.

Tħallix jum jgħaddi mimli dmugħ – jekk se tixrob, issuqx, which means don’t let a day go by full of tears, if you are going to drink, don’t drive – is the slogan of the campaign, which features The Travellers’ new track called Siġġu Vojt.

Ian Borg, the transport minister said that whilst road safety should be observed throughout the year, December was a time of celebration when many people went out and drank. “It’s important that we take care of each other this festive season, as a driver you are not alone on the road, there are other motorists and also pedestrians and cyclists – and everyone needs to be respected,” he said.

Transport Malta enforcement officers, along with police and others will be conducting inspections all over the country to make sure that drivers aren’t driving under the influence.

“Younger people who will listen to the song and watch the video of The Travellers will truly understand the message of this campaign – that life is precious and we all need to be safe on the road,” said Pierre Vella, the Malta Road Safety Council chairman.

Mark it in your calendars, everyone, as the song, Siġġu Vojt, will be released on 6 December.
