Malta will be selecting its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, that is set to take place in Turin, Italy in May, on February 19th and we’re excited! Adding to the excitement is the fact that Television Malta (TVM) have released 20-second snippets of all the 22 semi-finalists.
What a feeling! The semi-final will take place on Thursday 17th February and the final on Saturday 19th, during which the local representative will be chosen.
Among the names are two former Eurovision stars, as well as many familiar faces from previous editions of MESC, and The X Factor Malta. Former Firelight frontman Richard Micallef, for starters, who previously competed during the Eurovision in 2014, as he made it to the final with the song Coming Home. He also returned to MESC 2018, along with his father Joe Micallef.
Another familiar face is singer Nicole Azzopardi, Malta’s Junior Eurovision 2010 contender, as well as Jessica Muscat, who won San Marino’s national final 1IN360 and represented the state alongside German rapper Jenifer Brening in 2018.
Finally, making her MESC debut is Emma Muscat. In 2018, the singer competed in the Italian talent show called Amici di Maria de Filippi, where she placed fifth. While Emma has released a number of Italian songs, she will compete in this competition with a song in English.
