Local DJ producer Edd drops single by Pete Tong’s label

Maltese DJ and producer Edward Carabot, also known as Edd, is quickly establishing himself as one of the hottest names in the local music industry, with the release of a brand new track, which is being released under a major international record label linked to Pete Tong.

Mama Used To Say is a joint production between Three Six Zero recording and Sony Music, with the former being founded by mark Gillespie, who manages artists such as world-renowned DJ Calvin Harris.

DJ Pete Tong, the British disc jockey who works for BBC Radio 1 is also currently the president of Three Six Zero recordings, whose team has long been scouting the Maltese star DJ.

Earlier this month, Edd was named as one of BBC Radio 1’s top ten future dance stars of the year and it’s not the first time he’s been featured either. “What an absolute honour,” said Edd on social media, as he thanked the three DJs who compiled the list, Sarah Story, Danny Howard and Pete Tong.

Last October, the radio show also featured one of his unreleased tracks, with Sarah Story commenting that she was very excited about the young artist and that he has “such a bright future” ahead of him!

Edd previously made his debut with Patrick Topping’s label, following the release of a three-song EP last year called Neon Tokyo. Just a few months later, in September 2021, he went on to release another single called Purple.

The rising star has been pursuing DJ-ing since 2013 and is locally managed by District.

This guy is definitely one to watch!
