Kite and Wind Festival to Take Place in Gozo This Weekend
The Gozo International Kite and Wind Festival returns this year on the 15 and 16 October at San Dimitri in Għarb, Gozo
The festival will feature traditional and professional kite flyers while also providing room for visitors to come out and experience what it is like to fly a kite.
There will also be kites on site for sale, a children’s area, food and drink vendors, live music, a traditional fair, pony rides and more.
SATURDAY 15 OCTOBER
10.00am till sunset: Flying display of kites of all shapes and sizes animated by a number of foreign professionals kite flyers. International renowned kite flyers will be performing acrobatic kite tricks and routines to music and kite making workshops.
10.00am-4.00pm: Kite making workshops for ages four and upwards (minors to be accompanied by an adult)

10.00am-6.00pm: Free entertainment for children, including face painting, balloon modelling and special characters.

Closing: A Pyrotechnical fireworks display will close off the evening.
SUNDAY 16TH OCTOBER
9.00am: Kite flying spectacle, including kites built during workshops. There will also be a display of handmade kites and a competition. Points will be given on kite artistic features, originality, technique and construction and awards will be given out. The evaluation board will include foreign professional kite makers. There are two categories: Handmade kite and Off-The-Shelf kite. Three prizes in each of the categories.
10.00am: Traditional San Dimitri Fair
10.00am -6.00pm: Free children entertainment including face painting, balloon modelling and special characters, pony rides and a traditional fair.
3.30pm: Traditional celebration in honour of San Dimitri with the participation of children at San Dimitri Chapel.
5.00pm: Kids surprise event
6.45pm: Traditional bonfire and synchronised fireworks with music by Ghaqda tan-Nar 31 ta’ Mejju, Gharb AD 2013.
Shuttle transport service will be available from the main parking in Victoria to San Dimitri every 30 mins.
