Celebrate Halloween with The Panto of the Opera in Malta
A mysterious masked figure, theatrical mayhem and plenty of musical mischief take centre stage in The Panto of the Opera, a brand-new Pantoween production by Hoi Polloi Malta, running at Teatru Salesjan in Sliema from 30 October to 1 November 2026.
Picture this: Valletta, 1886. The Royal Opera House is preparing for its most spectacular season yet, but all is not going to plan. Its ambitious new patron, the Viscomte de Chagny, demands perfection, rehearsals descend into chaos and a mysterious masked figure begins haunting the theatre’s corridors.
Caught between the shadows and the spotlight, Christine finds herself at the centre of a story filled with intrigue, music and unexpected twists. Meanwhile, the theatre’s flamboyant manager, a larger-than-life Dame with a heart of gold and a flair for drama, is doing little to keep things under control.
As the eccentric company of performers struggles to save the Opera House from disaster, audiences can expect spectacular musical numbers, dazzling choreography, laugh-out-loud comedy and a touch of Halloween fright.
Following the launch of Pantoween last year with Hocus Pocus: The Pantoween, Hoi Polloi Malta returns with a new original production that puts a playful Maltese spin on one of theatre’s most iconic stories.
Whether you’re a musical theatre enthusiast, a fan of a good mystery or looking for a Halloween outing with family and friends, The Panto of the Opera promises an entertaining mix of music, comedy and theatrical surprises. And in true Pantoween spirit, audiences are encouraged to arrive in costume!
