Malta's Own Katryna Esposito Wins Malta's First Gold Medal In The 2023 GSSEs

And just like that, Malta is off with a bang at the 2023 GSSEs thanks to the extremely talented Katryna Esposito. The Games only opened yesterday and Malta can already add one to the total medal tally.

Katryna won Malta’s first gold medal at the 2023 GSSEs in her respective sport of Judo. Competing in the sub-48kg category, she was able to come out on top and win in her event.

Being only 22 years of age but having started competing in Judo when she was 18, her hard work and commitment have certainly shown off and we can’t wait to see what else she does, along with all of the other Maltese athletes.

The GSSEs opened in Floriana last night on 29 May and the evening ceremony saw an exceptional turnout which would have made all athletes (especially the Maltese team) feel very much supported and welcomed.

The Games will be running until 3 June and have different sporting events taking place every day.

Congratulations and well done again, Katryna.
