Malta Postage Stamp Wins International Stamp Award

Malta postal stamp designed by local artist Daniel Spiteri wins the Most Beautiful SEPAC Stamp 2022 Award

Thirteen European postal authorities, including MaltaPost are members of the Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation (SEPAC). Each year, SEPAC members release a joint stamp issue, bearing a common theme.

Stamp issues from participating member countries are uploaded to an online portal allowing persons worldwide to vote for the most beautiful SEPAC Stamp.

The theme of the 2022 issue was  ‘local beverages’, and the stamp issued by MaltaPost depicted a bottle of Kinnie – the popular Maltese beverage.

MaltaPost won first place. The retro-looking branded bottle is displayed centre stage with a colourful local backdrop showing traditional luzzu boats, a typical Maltese village shoreline and the cupola, dome and steeples of an iconic baroque church.

With its stamp design featuring sea buckthorn berries and juice, Aland-Post came in second, while Guernsey received third place for its stamp showing a beer-thieving seagull.

“We are proud and honoured to have won this prestigious international award” says Mary Grace Simpson, Head of Philately at MaltaPost. “The winning stamp was the work of local artist Daniel Spiteri, who forms part of MaltaPost’s creative marketing team.
