Artisan Market at is-Suq tal-Belt in Valletta this weekend
Malta Artisan Markets is collaborating with the ‘Suq tal-Belt Food Market’ for a special community event! ‘Suq tal-Belt’, which ironically translates to ‘The City Market’, will host an artisan market on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November. The event will begin at 11 am and conclude at 7 pm, bringing you a range of handmade goods and artistic creations throughout.
In a matter of days, multiple stalls will be set up in the centre of Valletta, offering a vast array of food, art, accessories, hygiene/self-care items, and more. Plus, Arts and Crafts Malta’s own talented face painter will work their magic on anyone who pleases; Any face, young and old, can be a canvas. Getting to have direct conversations with the people behind the products is one of the best things about artisan markets. It lets you see the passion that goes into their work firsthand, and have your questions answered directly by the manufacturers. Having said that, here are a some of the gifted craftspeople attendees can expect this weekend:
Visit the Watercolors of Malta stand for one of local artist Clement Beseme’s beautiful watercolour paintings, which find the beauty in everyday Maltese scenes. Then, have a look at ‘Ġmiel bl-Idejn’ and their vibrant hand-painted clay pots. Perhaps purchase one of Grezz Jewellery’s pieces, which range from elegant to edgy. What’s more, get ready to sample a spa experience as Scented Suds will be demonstrating a variety of their handmade bath bombs. They won’t be the only ones creating a captivating aroma, as Burlesque Candles will be bringing their eco friendly candles, made from exotic fruits, flowers and spices. All of these and more this weekend.
In addition to helping out small businesses in the local community, shopping from artisan markets also contributes to the preservation of traditional crafts and recipes for people of all ages.
