What to expect at Malta’s Largest Gaming Expo PLAYCON 2023 this month

Once November draws to a close, the third edition of PLAYCON will send us into December with four days of exciting gaming events from November 30 to December 3.
As Malta’ largest Video Games Expo, PLAYCON provides a platform for industry stakeholders to gather and exhibit their best projects, as well as engage with the public to help influence the future of video games and esports. Held at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali, the event is complete with Exhibits, Summits, Esports Tournaments, a Cosplay Contest, and a Pitching Competition. Furthermore, it offers a unique opportunity for people, irrespective of expertise, to get a foot int the door of the gaming industry.
At the Exhibit, both local and international video game companies gather to showcase and promote their products. Indie developers and triple A (mid-size or major) publishers are welcome. There’s also stands run by food or drink brands, educational institutions, and more. The exhibitors range from the categories of Education, Emerging Tech, Esports, Game Studios, Retailers, and others.
This year, the Game development & Esports Summit will be held on November 30 and December 1, the first two days of the event. PLAYCON has assembled a stellar lineup of speakers, who will be offering industry insight about the constantly changing field of interactive technology. Delegates can look forward to engaging conversations covering a wide range of subjects during the Summit, as well as insightful speeches that will attempt to foster cooperation and synergy between the game development, esports, and emerging technologies sectors.

Cosplay is a major part of such conventions, devoted fans get to transform themselves into their favourite characters among a bunch of people who will know exactly what or who they’re dressed as – many of them create their own costumes from scratch! So, maybe Cosplayers will be happy to learn that PLAYCON is holding its first ever Cosplay Competition on December 2 at 2 pm, with trophies and cash prizes to be won in several categories! Interested participants can find more information and apply here.
Ofcourse, no gaming convention would be complete without Esports Tournaments, organised, multiplayer video game competitions between players of varying skill, which are played individually or as teams. This year, competitions for the following video games will be held: Counter-Strike 2, Rocket League, League of Legends, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros., Pokémon VGC, Tekken 7, and EA Sports FC 24.
Moreover, those who purchase a B2B Pass will gain entry into all of the event’s business networking and matching events. The pass comes with invitations to networking events, access to the GTR Startup Pitch Competition, and scheduled meeting access in addition to the Summit and Meet to Match platform.
