Olive Oil Lovers Unite This Saturday!
This Saturday the Olive Growers Cooperative Limited Group will be launching their new MALITA brand of extra virgin olive oil at Ta’ Qali Farmers Market between 7:00am-9:30am. But wait…there’s more! With two bottles of 500ml (sold at a discount price for this event at 12 Euros per bottle) you will get as a gift a booklet “your first step in the olive oil business”. There will also be an olive oil tasting at the booth. If you have an interest in olive oil growing and harvesting, this is your chance to come and meet some of the best farmers on the island!
The Idea Behind the Bottle:
In 2022 Jimmy Magro reached out to growers around the island in an attempt to set up an organisation to unite the local olive growers. As of this year, they officially registered as a cooperative. The cooperative consists of 65 members who have a combined number of 6,000 olive trees!
From Farm to Fork
As we know, pure extra virgin olive oil has tremendous health benefits including but not limited to high amounts of polyphenols and antioxidants for anti-aging and reducing inflammation (which leads to heart disease, diabetes type II and other health ailments) in the body. The higher quality of the olive, the lower the amounts of acid of the oils. When you have high antioxidants and low acid, you have a winning combination of one of the healthiest and purest products in the world.

The main objective of the cooperative is to consolidate the olive sector in Malta; raise awareness about the health benefits of extra virgin olive oil; and gain support locally because it is of great importance to value the work and effort of our farmers and producers in making the olive oil from Malta a product of excellence.
