A Family-Friendly Book Fair in Birkirkara Happening This Saturday

This Saturday, 5 April, literature lovers of all ages are invited to the Railway Reads – Book Fair, taking place from 09:30am to 3:00pm at the charming Birkirkara Old Railway Station and Garden. Organised by the Eastern Regional Council in collaboration with the Birkirkara Local Council, the Malta Railway Foundation, and MSPCA, the event promises a vibrant day celebrating books, community, and heritage.

Supported by Il-Forn Ta’ L-Għawdxi and L-Aġenzija Nazzjonali tal-Litteriżmu, this first-time event offers an extensive selection of second-hand books for children, teens, and adults. Proceeds from the fair will go to MSPCA, an organisation with over a century of dedication to animal welfare in Malta.

The day will also feature special reading sessions from three celebrated Maltese authors behind Tnax-il, a short story collection centred around the Eastern Region. Attendees can look forward to engaging family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Visitors are encouraged to bring reusable shopping bags to support sustainability and note that purchases are cash-only. Those with a Heritage Malta Passport can enjoy a complimentary tour of the Malta Railway Museum. Additionally, guests are welcome to bring along any unwanted books to donate to the Karin Grech Hospital.

Railway Reads blends culture, history, and charity in one engaging event; a must-visit for book enthusiasts and families alike. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to discover hidden literary gems while supporting a worthy cause.
