Chris Ebejer’s Sculptural Journey Continues in Valletta

Opened on 4 May and running until 7 June, Echoes of Now transforms the Oratory of the Immaculate within the Jesuit Church in Valletta into a contemplative artistic space where sculpture, history, and architecture meet in dialogue.

The exhibition presents an anthology of works by renowned Maltese artist Chris Ebejer, featuring fine sculptures in porcelain, terracotta, bronze, and marble created across several years of artistic practice. Carefully curated within an elegant scenographic layout, the exhibition harmonises with the Baroque grandeur of the 17th-century oratory, offering visitors an immersive and reflective cultural experience.

Far more than a traditional exhibition, Echoes of Now invites audiences to pause and reconnect with beauty, elegance, and stillness amid the noise and controversies of contemporary life. The delicate sculptures are displayed within thoughtfully designed settings that enhance both the intimacy of the works and the spiritual atmosphere of the historic venue.

Deeply rooted in Malta’s artistic heritage, Ebejer brings a distinctive Mediterranean sensibility to his work. The exhibition creates a compelling bridge between the artistic splendour of the past and contemporary creative expression, reflecting the continuity and evolution of the artist’s vision.

The exhibition is curated by art historian Paolo Giansiracusa and supported by the Jesuit Church Foundation.
